ANSR-131/132 : ASCEND-39/40 : Spring 2021 Flight : 27 March 2021 

ANSR-131/Ascend-39

The launch day prediction for the ANSR-131/Ascend-39 balloon flight with a 120% fill is for a flight of 76 km (47 miles) on a bearing of 127º, landing at 32° 39.366'N, 111° 19.618'W, or 17 km (11 miles) ESE of Picacho, Arizona.  Burst should occur after 93 minutes with a total flight time of 129 minutes. The assumptions for this prediction are a 3000 gram balloon, payload mass of 7.265 kg (15.983 lbs), neck lift of 8.718 kg (19.18 lbs), an ascent rate of 5.5 m/sec (1057 fpm), a burst altitude of 30,701 meters (100,700 feet), descent rate at landing of 6.5 m/sec (1278 fpm) and using Habhub.com.  Google Earth KML and JPG files are attached. 

The launch of ANSR-131 is tentatively scheduled for today, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 9:00 AM MST (1600 UT), from the UA Ag Center in Maricopa, AZ (33° 4.380'N, 111° 58.493'W).  The actual launch site will be determined as we get closer to launch day.

The Weather Underground forecast for Maricopa, AZ for today, Saturday, March 27, is for: Sunny. High 77F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Weather at launch time is forecast to be sunny with a temperature of 57F and winds NNE at 5 mph.

ANSR-132/Ascend-40

The launch day prediction for the ANSR-132/Ascend-40 balloon flight with a 120% fill is for a flight of 73 km (45 miles) on a bearing of 129º, landing at 32° 39.638'N, 111° 21.901'W, or 3.6 km (2.2 miles) west of ANSR-131.  Burst should occur after 90 minutes with a total flight time of 126 minutes. The assumptions for this prediction are a 3000 gram balloon, payload mass of 7.537 kg (16.581 lbs), neck lift of 9.044 kg (19.897 lbs), an ascent rate of 5.5 m/sec (1087 fpm), a burst altitude of 30,488 meters (100,000 feet), descent rate at landing of 6.6 m/sec (1292 fpm) and using Habhub.com.  Google Earth KML and JPG files are attached. 

The launch of ANSR-132 is tentatively scheduled for today, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 9:30 AM MST (1600 UT), from the UA Ag Center in Maricopa, AZ (33° 4.380'N, 111° 58.493'W).  The actual launch site will be determined as we get closer to launch day.
