ANSR-136 : Yuma Hamfest & Southwestern Division Convention flight : 19 February 2022

NOTE: This prediction is based on a fill of 130% of payload mass. A fill of 140% is possible and results in a flight 5 miles shorter and also landing just north of I-8 between Old US-80 and I-8(KML attached). It looks like either fill level would be acceptable with this prediction.

Good Morning,

2000 GRAM BALLOON

The Saturday Launch Day prediction for ANSR-136 is for a flight of 75 km (47 miles) on a bearing of 086°, landing at 32° 43.128'N, 113° 47.760'W, or 25km (16 miles) west-southwest of Dateland, Arizona, JUST NORTH of I-8, and SOUTH of Old US-80. Burst should occur after 72 minutes with a total flight time of 111 minutes. The assumptions for this prediction are a 2000 gram balloon, payload mass of 6.44 kg (14.19 lbs), neck lift of 8.36 kg (18.45 lbs),130%, an ascent rate of 6.41 m/sec (1261 fpm), a burst altitude of 28,018 meters (91,900 feet), descent rate at landing of 5.75 m/sec (1131 fpm) and using Habhub.com. Google Earth KML and JPG files are attached. This prediction uses the 0600 UT GFS winds aloft model.

The launch of ANSR-136 is scheduled for today, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 9:00 AM MST (1600 UT), from the Yuma Hamfest (32° 40.212'N, 114° 35.520'W).

The Weather Underground forecast for Yuma, AZ for today, Saturday, February 19, is for: Sunny. High 81F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.. Weather at launch time is forecast to be sunny with a temperature of 56F and winds NNE at 7 mph.

Best Regards,
