ANSR-139 : CopaFest 2022 flight : 29 October 2022
NOTE: The FAA has changed the NOTAM number for this flight. New NOTAM # 10/255.
Good Morning,
The Launch Day prediction for the ANSR-139 balloon flight with a 150% fill is for a flight of 79.8 km (49.6 miles) on a bearing of 087º, landing at 33° 3.845'N, 111° 11.995'W, or 18 km (11 miles) East of Florence, Arizona. Burst should occur after 62 minutes with a total flight time of 98 minutes. The assumptions for this prediction are a 3000 gram balloon, payload mass of 6.997 kg (15.393 lbs), neck lift of 10.495 kg (23.09 lbs), an ascent rate of 7.9 m/sec (1565 fpm), a burst altitude of 30,061 meters (98,600 feet), descent rate at landing of 6.1 m/sec (1195 fpm) and using the Sondehub Predictor. Google Earth KML and JPG files are attached.
NOTE: This being one of our older balloons, the burst altitude, and hence the track length may be much lower (shorter).
The launch of ANSR-139 is scheduled for today, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 9:00 AM MST (1600 UT), from the COPA Fest at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Resort in Maricopa, AZ (33° 1.482'N, 112° 2.918'W).
The Weather Underground forecast for Maricopa, AZ for today, Saturday, October 29, is for: Plentiful sunshine. High 82F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Weather at launch time is forecast to be mostly sunny with a temperature of 62F and winds ENE at 6 mph.

BE SAFE! |
The Balloon was launched at 0915 AZT and was chased and all payloads recovered successfully after a short 1/2 mile hike. Burst altitude was at about 102933 ft. Final landing coordinates were 33°3.64' N 111°13.69' W. Just a little more than 9 mile ENE of Florence. Of note we were only about 1.5 miles short of Bob's morning prediction. (woohoo!). Looking forward to the Upcoming ASCEND Flights on Sat Nov 19th. I will be sending out the first Call For Support very shortly.
Thanks again to everyone that came out to Help make this a very successful Flight.
