ANSR-145 - 24 June 2023 - YARC Field Day Balloon Flight

NOTE: This prediction is with the very latest wind model and is practically unchanged from today’s earlier prediction. This prediction passes directly over the Prescott Airport which is just 3 miles from the launch site. We will have to plan coordination with the Prescott tower.

Good Morning,

The Saturday Last Minute prediction for the ANSR-145 balloon flight with a 120% fill of hydrogen is for a flight of 87.6 km (54.4 miles) on a bearing of 046º, landing at 35° 9.539'N, 111° 46.277'W, or 10.8 km (6.7 miles) SSE of Bellemont, Arizona and on the shore of Rogers Lake. Burst should occur after 79 minutes with a total flight time of 106 minutes. The assumptions for this prediction are a 3000 gram, Kaymont balloon, payload mass of 8.52 kg (18.80 lbs), neck lift of 10.23 kg (22.56 lbs), an ascent rate of 5.8 m/sec (1141 fpm), a burst altitude of 29381 meters (96,400 feet), descent rate at landing of 7.27 m/sec (1431 fpm) and using the Sondehub Predictor. Google Earth KML, JPG files and a screenshot of the Sondehub.org predictor are attached.

The launch of ANSR-145 is tentatively scheduled for today, Saturday, June 24,2023 at 11:30 AM MST (1830 UT), from a launch site near the Jeep Posse Building in Prescott, Arizona (34°36.72'N, 112°27.811'W). The actual launch site will be determined as we get closer to launch.

The Weather Underground forecast for Prescott, AZ for today, Saturday, June 24, 2023, is for: Sunny. High 83F. E winds shifting to SSW at 10 to 15 mph Weather at launch time is forecast to be sunny with a temperature of 78F and winds SSW at 10 mph.
