27 January 2024 ANSR-149 QuartzFest Balloon Launch

Good Morning,

The Saturday launch day prediction for the ANSR-149 balloon flight with a 120% fill of hydrogen is for a flight that lands 57.6 km (35.8 miles) east on a bearing of 090º, landing at 33° 34.819'N, 113° 36.013'W, or 23.3 km (14.5 miles) west of Centennial, AZ., and south of I-10. Burst should occur after 111 minutes with a total flight time of 156 minutes. The assumptions for this prediction are a 3000 gram, Kaymont balloon, payload mass of 4.928 kg (10.867 lbs), neck lift of 5.914 kg (13.041 lbs), an ascent rate of 4.94 m/sec (973 fpm), a burst altitude of 33,404 meters (109,600 feet), descent rate at landing of 5.11 m/sec (1006 fpm) and using the Sondehub Predictor. The launch of ANSR-149 is scheduled for today, Saturday, January 27,2024 at 10:00 AM MST (1700 UT), from a launch site south of Quartzite, Arizona at the Quartzfest Ham Festival (33° 35.105'N, 114° 13.291'W).

The Weather Underground forecast for Quartzite, AZ for today, Saturday, January 27, 2023, is for: Sunny. High 69F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Weather at launch time is forecast to be mostly sunny with a temperature of 54F and winds north at 7 mph.
