ANSR-152/153 :  ASCEND-53/54 : Fall 2024 : 23 Nov 2024 

NOTE: The launch site is at the Freeman Road exit on Interstate 8 at mile marker 140!

Good Morning,

The Saturday Launch Day prediction for the ANSR-152/ASCEND-53 balloon flight with a 140% fill of hydrogen is for a flight of 98 km (61 miles) on a bearing of 088º, landing at 32° 52.256'N, 111° 16.351'W, or 29 km (18 miles) northeast of the town of Eloy, Arizona near Highway AZ-79.  Burst should occur after 62 minutes with a total flight time of 94 minutes. The assumptions for this prediction are a 3000 gram balloon, payload mass of 8.7 kg (19.2 lbs), neck lift of 12.1 kg (26.5 lbs), an ascent rate of 7.88 m/sec (1551 fpm), a burst altitude of 29,656 meters (97,300 feet), descent rate at landing of 6.8 m/sec (1339 fpm) and using the Sondehub Predictor.  Google Earth KML, JPG files are attached. 

The launch of ANSR-152/ASCEND-53 is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 9:00 AM MST (1600 UT)from a launch site at the Freeman Road Exit on Interstate 8 at mile marker 140 (32°50.99’ N, 112°19.17’). 

The Saturday Launch Day prediction for the ANSR-153/ASCEND-54 balloon flight with a 140% fill of hydrogen is for a flight of 97 km (60 miles) on a bearing of 087º, landing at 32° 53.274'N, 111° 17.084'W, or 2.2 km (1.4 miles) northwest of the ANSR-152 landing.  Burst should occur after 62 minutes with a total flight time of 93 minutes. The assumptions for this prediction are a 3000 gram balloon, payload mass of 8.97 kg (19.77 lbs), neck lift of 12.6 kg (27.7 lbs), an ascent rate of 7.92 m/sec (1559 fpm), a burst altitude of 29,473 meters (96,700 feet), descent rate at landing of 6.90 m/sec (1358 fpm) and using the Sondehub Predictor.  Google Earth KML, JPG files are attached. 

The launch of ANSR-153/ASCEND-54 is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 9:30 AM MST (1630 UT)from a launch site at the Freeman Road exit on Interstate 8 at mile marker 140 (32°50.99’ N, 112°19.17’).  

The Weather Underground forecast for Maricopa, AZ for Saturday, November 23, 2024, is for: Sunny to partly cloudy. High near 80F. Winds light and variable.  Weather at launch time is forecast to be sunny with a temperature of 52F and winds ESE at 2 mph.
